When you need to protect the privacy of an email message, encrypt it. Encrypting an email message means it’s converted from readable plain text into scrambled cipher text. Only the recipient who has the private key that matches the public key used to encrypt the message can decipher the message for reading. Any recipient without the corresponding private key, however, sees indecipherable text.

Sending and viewing encrypted email messages requires both sender and recipient to share their digital ID or public key certificate. This means that you and the recipient each must send the other a digitally signed message, which enables you to add the other person’s certificate to your Contacts. You can’t encrypt email messages without a digital ID. The following is the method on how to send encrypted emails on your Android phone-

1. Send Encrypted Email Using CryptMax

An easy, simple and user-friendly app, that allows you to encrypt text using a secret key into a cipher text and then send it via SMS, social apps or simply copy and paste it wherever you want. This app uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) to encrypt text, so far the only working way of breaking AES without knowing the secret key is by brute force which can take up to a few billion years for a good password. In CryptMax, you have to think just about one thing, the Password.

AES-128 vs AES-192 vs AES-256

AES has several different variants. The most securable variant is AES-128, which is selected by default in CryptMax app. When you tap on it, it will change from AES-192 or even AES-256, which are said to be more secure than 128 but in reality, even an AES-128 encrypted message would be almost impossible to break. Some rumors were around that 256 might be more vulnerable to certain kind of attacks but practically this has not been proved yet. While it is known that some government agencies and even some other big organizations opt for AES-192 or AES-256, but there is no practical way to even break AES-128 encryption at this point.Send Encrypted Email
