From the very first iPhone in 2007, to Apple’s iPhone 5S in 2014, the Cupertino based technology giant has nearly changed everything possible except for their native Slide to unlock feature. While the same has been copied by a number of hardware and software manufacturers on their devices, Apple has been able to shake them down with bunch of lawyers and law-suits.
However, if you are one of those iPhone users like us who are kind of bored of looking at the Slide to Unlock screen, the jailbreak community has something out of the box to offer. What goes by the name of SlideUP2Unlock, is a new addition to Cydia’s BigBoss repository and let’s iPhone users take a break of regular Slide to Unlock feature on their devices. Here’s how to get this simple utility, right on your iDevices.
Get ‘Slide Up To Unlock’ Feature On Your iPhone Running On iOS 7
This tweak requires you to jailbreak your iPhone. Jailbreaking can void your device warranty, and also disable it from receiving essential Over-The-Air updates from Apple. We recommend you to take a complete backup of your iPhone before proceeding.
Step 1: We are assuming you have already jailbroken your iPhone. Now, simply head over to Cydia app on your iPhone springboard, and tap it to launch it. Navigate to the search button on bottom navigation menu.
Step 2: Search for SlideUP2Unlock jailbreak tweak in the search box, and tap on the one hosted by BigBoss repository to install it. Fortunately, the tweak is available free of cost to all those who have jailbroken their iPhones, so you can download and install it by simply tapping on it.
Step 3: Once you have successfully installed SlideUP2Unlock tweak, head over to Settings->SlideUP2Unlock to modify the default settings.
What this amazing utility does is that it hides the slide up to use Camera utility on your iOS 7 powered iPhone, and replaces it with Slide to Unlock facility. For those who liked to use Slide up to use camera feature on their iPhones, don’t worry, you can simple uninstall/disable this tweak whenever you wish to. In case you wish to uninstall this tweak permanently from your iPhone, simple head over to Cydia->Manage->Packages->SlideUP2Unlock->Modify and then Uninstall button.
If you use passcode on your iPhone to unlock it, don’t worry, you will be able to use the same settings on your iPhone with SlideUP2Unlock too, though with a little different interface as seen in the image below.
